Why have a website about hurricanes?

My family likes to vacation in Florida and we have had to cut some of our vacations short because of the potential hurricane. We began watching the new on Hurricanes and I became more interested in learning about Hurricanes.

I work with Plastic Marine Piling that manufactures specialty marine pilings  for building new piers and wharfs.

If you have some interesting stories or pictures about Hurricane we would be interested in sharing them let me know and I will consider publishing them on My Hurricane Center

A hurricane starts out as a tropical depression then is upgrade to a tropical storm , and finally into a hurricane. A Hurricane is rated on a 1 to 5 scale.

The tropical depression was  formed May 28,and is not likely to form into a tropical storm.

Last year, the state of Florida was ravaged by several hurricanes in a row -- Hurricane Frances, Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Ivan, and Hurricane Jeanne. Thousands of families and businesses were impacted by these storms and most were ill-prepared for the situation they faced. That's how this website was born.

Although my family was lucky enough to escape harm and only suffered the inconvenience of a week without electricity (no walk in the park!), we want to be prepared for the 2005 Hurricane Season which experts say is going to be another tough one.
