From Rhonda in Mississippi

Before Hurricane Katrina, many people filled bathtubs with water, but the water leaked down the drain. A friend shared this tip with me. They bought a small tarp and lined the tub with it. They used strong/waterproof tape to tape it around the sides. Then, they filled the tub and there was no leakage.

From Judy in Florida

Before a hurricane comes make up a menu of what you will eat for the next week. Stock your refridgerator freezer with the items that you will need for two days. Don't use anything from your stand alone freezer until after that. Fill every nook and cranny with containers of water that freeze. Set your freezer on the coldest temp. Take ziplock bags (leave room for expansion) fill these with water and place them around odd shapped items. Any left over space fill with newspaper. It worked great during Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Francis and Hurricane Jeanne. We made it thru OK and then took the items over to family members who had electricity.
